a good director decides where and when the psychodrama will be set, she keeps the audience constantly engaged with emotions rapidly varying in tension, every moment has a dramatic charge but some are even climactic

drama-trained people listen briefly to the conversation and take it as a script; a script is an invitation to staging, hijack the show by provoking, select a scene with potential for striking enactment and take the lines loaded with an intensely high charge, see the theatricality and adapt it to suit the particular circumstances of the group

take all rationality and civility out of the grown-up discussion and replace it by arguments, fuel the fire by not listening and accusing of not listening; twisting every word „I-didn’t-say-that“ further destabilizes and downward spirals the situation; go on with misquotations, false memories and bizarre old arguments in this noisy melodrama

congrat so far and welcome to the himalayas of absurdity

follow the golden path from the nadir to the base camp of mount misery and get prepared fast tracking right into the death zone of mount bullshit, schlepp your roped party to the peak and there it’s barking at clouds

let everyone participate the bond of trust and make the sense of ownership palpable; consider the event’s essential items lavatories, snacks, scones and clotted cream

as a playwright, I know that I must seize the interest of the audience right from the start: it’s crucial to introduce conflict quickly cos it’s the heart of the drama, the ingredient that keeps the audience involved on the edge of their seats

each tragedy opens with a scene that sows the seeds of the catastrophes that will follow; just establish a charged atmosphere and stage it to greatest dramatic effect; exec by making use of your skills and taking the lead in bringing it to an end, be it disruptive, be it abdabs, be it loud, be it nuclear …

… lose your temper wholeheartedly and most of all stick to that feeling mode of an emotional rollercoaster
